Remember Paul was not among the Jerusalem followers...aka James and Peter et al. In fact, they were at odds...Paul wanting to shift from Jewish rituals and mandates.
Later the Christian church bishops established a consensus religion (those who established Jesus as a God) and a series of believers that recreated a new brand ( avoiding Jewish traditions while merging with pegan traditions). This brand was delivered full bore in 325 AD. The new theology shifted from acts to faith...focused on the supernatural (and pegan beliefs) reducing barriers to entry and increasing membership. Market share was the intent. Unlike Jesus...the religion became political. Not anti-political.
